Bad Nintendo patent reporting is everywhere. Content mills and faux insiders invent unfounded claims, while gaming outlets and streamers parrot them without verification. The Switch 2 “predictive input” farce was one glaring example.
For those who missed the episode: In February, Game Rant and Tom’s Guide boldly identified Nintendo patent US20250025779 as a “pre-cognitive input” tech. In actuality, it describes tracking finger movements over touch-sensitive ABXY buttons to emulate a trackpad.
And yet a host of outlets and influencers repeated the misinformation without so much as a glance at the patent themselves. So I’ll share interesting Nintendo patents (and other topics that interest me) here, with my own interpretation. Not a bot, so don’t expect real-time or exhaustive coverage—just handcrafted posts.
