Good news for designers who’d like to imitate the look of Nintendo logo and print materials: FanRan E (ファン蘭 E, image 1), the definitive 1980s Japanese font, will be available as OpenType from Oct 2025. It’s not exactly identical (image 2) but as close as you can get.
