The “ZAPPER” trademark was filed this year in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, China, EU, UK, South Korea, and Mexico. What could it possibly mean?

  1. Nothing. Since these are new applications not renewals, Nintendo is just plugging holes.
  2. After Zapper was revived in Nintendo Museum, Nintendo plans to release some merchandise.
  3. Nintendo legal noticed the releases of Polymega GC01 and G’AIM’E light guns, and figured that they need to expand the international protection for ZAPPER.
  4. Thanks to the magnetometer in Joy-Con 2 and Pro Controller 2, motion control is accurate now. So either brand new or NSO Classic light gun games are in the pipeline.
