Two Joy-Con patents re: switching between mouse/motion/stick controls are published.
Mouse/stick switching to motion:
- If gyro pointer (#260 in image below) is out of bounds, set pointer and cursor (#250) to center (2-1 → 3-1)
- If pointer is in-bounds, move cursor quickly to the pointer location (2-2 → 3-2)
Motion switching to mouse/stick:
- If gyro pointer (#260 in image below) is out of bounds, set cursor (#250) to the edge of screen (2-1 → 3-1)
- If pointer is in-bounds, set cursor to the pointer location (2-2 → 3-2)
