What Shoichi Matsuzawa said about FFT being code-in-box confirms what we already observed from the other Switch 2 games:
When an NS2 title is released on Game-Key Card, there’s no Upgrade Pack for the NS1 version.
- This is because the NS1 and NS2 versions are two separate apps.
- E.g.: Yakuza Kiwami, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake
When there’s an Upgrade Pack for a NS1 game, the NS2 Edition can only be a Game Card or digital only.
- Since the NS2 Edition app needs to be backward compatible with NS1, it can’t use the Game-Key Card, which is NS2 only
- E.g.: Guardians of Azuma (Game Card), Civilization VII (code-in-box)
