To counter harassment of Square Enix employees, the company investigated the operator(s) of a video game news site (Netoge Sokuho, f.k.a. FF14 Sokuho) and reached the following agreements with them:
- Site closure
- Public apology
- Monetary settlement
Square Enix warns that the company will continue to take measures against acts that threaten their employees’ “safety and mental well-being”.

ICYMI, in 2022-10 Nintendo updated their repair service policies to include a section against harassment of customer support staff; in 2023-07, they terminated their extended warranty program to close the gate completely. And to this day, they steadfastly refuse to identify the developer prior to a game’s release (yet people like Ben Hanson of MinnMax spins that as a “greedy” conspiracy; screenshots below).
