I confirmed that Switch 2’s Bluetooth audio does not support LE Audio and its low latency LC3 codec yet. I tested with Sony WH-1000XM6 and Creative Zen Air Pro—both LE Audio capable—and heard the same latency as when using Apple AirPods Pro 2. Sony’s app showed that AAC codec was used, not LC3.

Even Pro Controller’s audio jack has noticeable latency, therefore it’s not using LC3 codec either. This is disappointing because MediaTek MT3681AEN (console BT chip) and MT3689BCA (controller BT chip) are supposedly LE Audio capable. Will a future system update add LE Audio/LC3 support to Switch 2?
At the moment the industry’s LE Audio implementation is still messy. Creative’s transmitter is incompatible with Sony’s headphones, for instance. Perhaps this is the reason that Nintendo hasn’t included it in the OS.
P.S.: In case you’re unfamiliar with LE Audio’s LC3 codec, it’s a successor of SBC, providing better audio quality, handling radio congestion/packet loss, and more importantly for gaming—ensuring low latency. See the theoretical and real-world numbers below. Source: Ceva, Loud & Wireless
