Capcom President Tsujimoto had an interview with Nikkei Gaming. I’ll translate only a few points related to Switch and localization.
- He said the “PS5 barrier” (costs of console + game + subscription) was unexpectedly tough to tackle for MHW sales.
- The response to Switch 2 launch was better than Capcom anticipated. Tsujimoto attributed it to consumers being cost conscious.
- He identified China and Brazil as two new regions where Capcom may sell 1M+ copies per year.
- They are also looking into India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Middle East.
- Subtitles are available in up to 14 languages, and voice dubs up to 9.
- Capcom also studies the regions in which <100 copies were sold, to understand how to increase sales.
- DMC games sold 2M copies in 2 weeks after the Netflix premiere. So Capcom wants to do more co-promotions in the future.
[Addendum]

Not sure if GI.biz read through the source article? The interview was conducted in late May, two months before Capcom admitted the sales of MHW being below expectations. At no point did Tsujimoto say “low sales” in the article, but was patting themselves on the back for reaching the sales target (at the time).
First we had an IGN writer complaining about having to read in Welcome Tour, and now a GI.biz writer who can’t read good.
