Rosalina’s Storybook seems to be at least 3 years in the making?
In Japan, her name is Rosetta (ロゼッタ), and Nintendo trademarked it in 2017 and 2018, covering 18 classes—toys, clothing, etc. However, not until 2022-10-06 (date of Mario Movie Direct) did they file for Class 16: paper goods/printed matter.
This suggests that Rosalina’s Storybook had been in development since late 2022, if not earlier.
On a related note, Nintendo finally filed a trademark application for ROSALINA in Japan after the recent Direct, possibly due to the announcement of the Galaxy Movie.
