Due to the memory prices surge, market research firm TrendForce estimates that by Q3 2026, the memory cost within the bill of materials (BOM) for each console will be:
- 23% of Switch 2
- 36% of PS5 Pro
- 42% of Xbox X 2TB
Their forecast is that the global console shipment will contract by 4.4% in 2026. TrendForce also predicts that the memory costs will limit console makers’ ability to offer discounts, let alone reduce MSRPs.
