Knowledge-based discourse

A couple interesting bits of information from the latest investor conference of Foxconn Technology Co. (鴻準, Switch assembler):

1. When asked whether the memory shortage will impact Switch 2 production in 2026, FTC stated that Nintendo procures the components, not FTC. At the moment, the “visible” (it typically means 3-6 month window) Nintendo orders have not decreased.

It sounds like Nintendo has enough inventory and contracts of memory to weather at least 1-2 quarters (see previous post re: inventory data). Since Nintendo hasn’t reduced its orders from FTC, I’d venture to guess that no immediate Switch 2 price hike either (which would reduce demands).

2. FTC confirmed that it began shipping Switch 2 from Oct. 2024, suggesting that Nintendo stockpiled ~8 months of Switch 2 production before launch.

Not only did Nintendo’s finished goods inventory level in Mar. 2025 hint at that, but as I shared on Famiboards in Dec. 2024, FTC’s eye-popping Nov. revenue already let the cat out of the bag.
