
Good writeup, but Schreier made no mention of the media’s zealous coverage of a game’s frame rate and graphics starting from the very first trailer, absolving his colleagues’ complicity in driving up dev costs.
While he rightfully called out the cost of living crisis for consumers, he forgot that devs also face the same crisis. Articles like this too often pit the two groups against each other, instead of asking why our economic system has hollowed out the middle class to the point where working people can barely afford to buy games that aren’t in a bargain bin.
