Patent application JP2026020178 that I posted last month touched on the power-saving mode of HD Rumble 2. Another application JP2026015700 provides further details:

When the system stops receiving new vibration instructions, it ramps down the current amplitude by 0.8x every 5ms. If the amplitude hasn’t reached 0 by 105ms, set it to 0; this stops the motor. Next, the I2S (vibration) bus is stopped to save power; the I2C (control) bus remains active, however, so that the next vibration can resume rapidly within 5ms.
