How Joy-Con 2 Analog Stick Suppresses Dirt Entry

A new patent application EP4741986 for the Joy-Con 2 analog stick:

To give the stick a sufficient range to tilt while keeping the Joy-Con’s overall profile low, the stick module is mounted close to the Joy-Con surface and the hole on the top shell needs to be large enough (W1 in image 1 below).

But a large hole can collect debris and looks bad. To “suppress exposure”, a deformable “umbrella” (#13 in img 2) is attached right below the stick cap (#11), and a ring-shaped “cover” (img 3) is affixed to the stick module via #26 + #44 (img 4) and to Joy-Con shell via #25 + #105 (img 1).

Lastly, the stick module is fastened to the Joy-Con top shell via two screws (image below).
