AnimeAnime.jp filed a report on Pokémon TCG’s expansion in China. Since 2023, official gyms have been set up around the country. There are 15 at the moment, and more are being added to form a nationwide network. The largest gym has 19,000 sq ft space. They offer shopping, photo ops, tournaments, and events.

Innovative services and diversified events cater to players of all ages and levels (images 1-2 below). Aside from localized cards and merchandise, China-exclusive products such as the 绘梦点睛 series (figure+card sets; roughly translated to ”drawing-to-life”) also demonstrate TPC’s ambition for this market (images 3-4).

[Sidebar] Currently Nintendo Hong Kong serves the mainland indirectly. Until Nintendo figures out how to officially enter the mainland, they’re leaving money on the table.
