HD Rumble 2’s vibration data is sent from the console to the controller every 5ms*. If the vibration amplitude is 0 consecutively (back-to-back)*, the data transmission is paused to conserve Bluetooth bandwidth.

If there is no vibration for over “a few hundred ms”*, the motor’s amp enters power-saving mode. When the vibration resumes, the initial amplitude is boosted to compensate for the motor spin-up.

* These numbers are cited as “examples”, but most likely are actual numbers used.
