The Switch 2 console with replaceable battery, BEE-001(-01), has surfaced in the FCC database.
As previously observed from the teardown, the console’s three wireless antennas have been updated. The AUT Report now confirms that the new model’s Bluetooth is marginally better, but its Wi-Fi is weaker (new model in img 1; original in img 2).

Comparing only the peak antenna gains, and assuming the conducted power being the same:
- Bluetooth is 13-17% stronger in linear terms; 6-8% more free-space range
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi has mixed performance; +17% linear/+8% range on one antenna, and -52% linear/-30% range on another
- 5 GHz Wi-Fi is 25-43% weaker linear; 13-24% less free-space range
Important notes:
- There are many factors to wireless performance. Peak antenna gain is only one parameter.
- The improvement of Bluetooth antennas is minor. How your hands hold the controller probably has more performance impact than this.
- The reduction of Wi-Fi strength is real, but don’t get hung up on it. Nintendo engineers quite possibly decided that the original antennas were overbuilt, and thus redesigned them.
- Any real-world performance changes may be insignificant, if noticeable at all.
It’s hard to say whether the revised Switch 2 console will be made available in North America. The FCC certification might have been filed just as a contingency plan.
