The Switch 2 Pro Controller with replaceable battery has been certified by the FCC (imgs 1-2 below). This surprises me somewhat, because I didn’t think it’d be made available in North America. Did Nintendo obtain the certification just as a backup?

Judging by the FCC filing, the revised Pro Controller 2’s peak antenna gain decreases from +3.24 dBi (img 1 below, original version) to +1.55 dBi (img 2, revision). It is a 32% reduction in linear terms. Assuming the conducted power remains the same, the theoretical free-space range would be about 18% shorter than before. However, in most scenarios the player wouldn’t be far away enough from the console for this to matter.

Disclaimers: There are many factors to wireless performance, and the peak antenna gain is only one parameter. Any real-world performance changes may be insignificant, if noticeable at all.
